Project Description

Fall on Me is a song written by Ian Axel and Chad (Vaccarino) King, members of the American duo A Great Big World. Following its release, the song became an instant hit with music fans in North America.

In September 2018, Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli released English/Italian versions of the song recorded with his son Matteo. Matteo wrote the Italian and additional English lyrics for this version, in collaboration with Fortunato Zampaglione. The duet is included as two tracks on Bocelli’s latest album Si, which also includes collaborations with a number of other artists including Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, superstar Josh Groban and classical soprano Aida Garifullina. The song also features in the end credits of the Disney film, The Nutcracker and The Four Realms, starring Keira Knightley, Mackenzie Foy, Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman, which was released in November 2018.

In 2019 A Great Big World recorded their original version of Fall on Me in collaboration with American singer/songwriter Christina Aguilera. The song is the duo’s second collaboration with Aguilera, following the single Say Something, which peaked at No. 4 on the Hot 100 in 2013

Fall on Me (the original version) is a beautifully poignant song that seemingly beckons for the divine influence of a higher spiritual power in the search for love. The Bocelli version incorporates an additional sentiment – the bond between parent and child. Andra Bocelli said of this version, “Anyone who is a parent, anyone who knows the precious responsibility of being a mother or a father, will fully grasp the meaning of this piece.” It is his first duet with his son Matteo.

In April 2020, while in self-isolation during the coronavirus pandemic, Andrea and Matteo called in to The Late Show Starring James Corden from their home in  Italy to perform a heart-warming rendition of Fall on Me. The event was to raise awareness of the Andrea Bocelli Foundation – a humanitarian charity providing support to communities experiencing poverty, illiteracy and distress due to illness and social exclusion. Andrea commented, “For my Foundation, in this moment it’s very complicated because as you know the situation in Italy is difficult. Everyone working for my Foundation is very busy, and everyone is working very hard.” Matteo added: “We take the positive part of this situation – being with family doesn’t happen very often for us because we always travel, so we feel very lucky for this given that we know many other people aren’t feeling very well.”

Five arrangements of Fall on Me are available for immediate download: two a cappella arrangements of the original version for SATB and SSAA choirs, in English, along with three accompanied arrangements of the Bocelli version for SATB, SSAA and 2-Part choirs that may be sung in English or in a mix of English and Italian.
